Technical Director Provide technical support for the needs of the construction site for the realization of a hydroelectric power generating scheme inclusive of two gravity dams feeding water to a 150MW power house and water for irrigation, through 23 kms of pressure tunnel in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. Tasks included the compilation of method statements, reviewing design statements and drawings produced by in house designers, elaboration of designers's drawings to suit contractor's requirements, designing of formwork for special castings and incorporating standard commercial formwork. Utilized Construction Computer Software CCS for the purpose of making a comprehensive budget to completion, incorporating the program of works to completion, resources usage in the form of time histograms derived from budgeted production rates. Trained personnel on the use of the specialized software and compilation of information for use by management. Experience with the principles and design of pressure tunnels and the problems associated with them. Also gained experience with TBM excavation systems and further experience with traditional drill and blast methods and problems associated with poor ground conditions ( steel ribs and fore-poling, types of lining (shotcrete and concrete) for differing ground and support conditions, de-watering and ventilation problems, raise boring excavation solutions and problems. Experience with contract administration and associated problems arising between Owner, main contractor and subcontractors, inclusive of production of write-ups, delayed programmes and costs for contractual claims.
